Arts College owns the Station House at Buxworth
in the Peak District of Derbyshire. The centre is about 16 miles from school –
close enough to be easily reached, but far enough away to be ‘different!’
Buxworth
Centre was set up by converting the old railway station in the village of Buxworth into a self contained
Residential Centre. It is located in the village of Buxworth in Derbyshire Peak
District, on the edge of the National Park, and lies about 18 miles south east
of Manchester, 25 miles west of Sheffield, 30 miles from the M1, 33 miles from
the M6 and 14 miles from the M60. Edale, Castleton, Hayfield, Kinder Scout and
Buxton are close by. Buxworth is a good base for all types of activity in both the
Dark and White Peak areas of the National Park. The
grid reference of the Centre is: SK 024823.
Buxworth
Centre is currently closed for refurbishment. We expect that it will reopen in
the late Spring of 2008. Some photos of the building and the refurbishment work
being carried out are posted below. It should
again be available for letting as self catering accommodation to schools, youth
organisations, and other corporate bodies from Summer 2008. Any group renting
the Centre has full and exclusive use of the Centre for the duration of their
stay.
When the
Station House reopens we will post details on this site. Over the years,
hundreds of Burnage students have used and enjoyed the Buxworth Centre. If you

Station House is owned in trust by the former Burnage High School Parents'
Society (which is a Registered Charity-no. 506770), and the Burnage Media Arts
