The group performed an abridged version of Shakespeare's Richard III and
busily cast and produced their play far over five months.
In order to meet this exciting challenge, the performers benefited from an
in-school drama workshop by the award-winning Drama Theatre Group.
Drama provides specialised workshops for young people in a positive
educational context, while developing their creativity. The workshops proved
invaluable to the students' acting abilities and their self-confidence
They helped guide the performers through auditions, rehearsals and the
excitement
of public performance This was especially important as it was the first
time the students had performed outside the school.
On the day, the Burnage Media Arts College group performed alongside three other
schools and were supported by a professional stage crew, with the play
going through the normal theatrical procedures of both full technical and
dress rehearsals.
Alison Boyd, Head of Drama, said: "The boys involved were fantastic
on stage, All their hard work and dedication paid off on the night. "
