Burnage Media Arts College - Manchester UK

Community

The Community School's mission is to educate young and adult people so that each student may become a valued and contributing member of his or her community. To this end, the Community School explores a diversity of thinking, including traditional college preparatory disciplines, creative thinking, and experiential learning.

There have also been recent visits to Spain, Paris and to the South of France We have many smaller scale visits, some of them day trips to places of local interest and some just for enjoyment.

Burnage High School provides a wide range of part-time learning opportunities for people aged 18 and over. This includes basic education, GCSEs, office skills, introduction to work, and leisure courses - leading in many cases to qualifications.

Courses are held at accessible, friendly local learning centres. We try to reflect the cultural diversity of Manchester through our inclusive course provision, and want every student to achieve her or his full potential, enjoy learning, and, where they want to, gain national qualifications.

Many of our courses are FREE and those that aren't we hope are affordable. Our comprehensive programme includes courses ranging from Basic Skills to Access to University.

We hold several quality kite marks for our provision including
  • the Basic Skills Agency's 'Q' Mark
  • TEC's Investor in People award (external site)
  • the Guidance Accreditation Board Quality Mark
