Burnage Media Arts School - Manchester UK

What's in a Name?

Burnage High School / Burnage High Media Arts College / Burnage Media Arts College / Burnage United Media Arts College / Burnage Specialist Media Arts College?

In the wake of winning Media Arts College status, the question arises: what should we call our school? The decision has almost been made for us as we have to make reference to our new status in the title. And rightly so. The bid writing team were not simply jumping through hoops so that we can gain funding to keep jobs secure. They were writing a bid that will allow every faculty to improve the quality of education that the students receive. Every faculty means every faculty. Media Arts status will only have been worth going for if our results in every subject improve; if attendance reaches 95% and the school community glows with ambition and self-esteem.

Such aspirations cannot be achieved only by the people whose initials appear against an action plan. Our ambitions can only be achieved if all of us make it our business to be a part of the new school. So welcome to Burnage High Media Arts College/Burnage Media Arts College - the final decision rests with the Governors.
