Army Activity Day



Burnage Media Arts College Army Activity Day - 13 December 2007



GENERAL

  • Army Careers will be conducting an onsite Activity day for Year 9 students from Burnage boys on 13 Dec 07.
  • The activities will be delivered by the Duke of Lancs regiment and soldiers from the technical and Logistical ART outreach team to approx 200 students.

AIM

  • The aim of event is to build on the awareness and develop team building communication, problem solving skills and awareness of the Armed forces through the provision of work based learning activities.

PARTICIPATION BY TEAMS

  • Army outreach teams are CRB cleared and the activities risk assessed prior to and on the day of the event. We reserve the right to withdraw any activity that does not comply with health and safety at any point during the day.

OUTLINE DETAILS

  • Students will be divided in to 5 groups and rotated through10 stands in 5 areas (2 stands per area) manned by the above. An outline programme will be agreed with school staff prior to the event. A site reconnaissance and agreement of the available resource/classrooms sports halls etc will be conducted week 3-5 Dec 07.
  • Stands are to be interactive and informative. Stand commanders are to ensure maximum hands on for the students. Stands located outside are to make provision for wet weather activities. All stands must be in possession of risk assessments. All risks must be re-evaluated daily.
  • Space is limited to the areas agreed with the school during the reconnaissance.


MARKETING/PR

  • School and Service PR agents will be informed of the activities taking place.

Security

  • Movement in school is restricted and controlled by access fobs. Security fobs will be issued to team commanders who are to control team member movement.

Timings:

The day will run in accordance with normal school timings as follows:

  • 0815-1915 Period 1 eg Army Physical training
  • 0915-1015 Period 2
  • 1015-1030 Break
  • 1030-1130 Period 3
  • 1130-1200 Lunch
  • 1200-1300 Period 4
  • 1300-1400 Period 5

Activities:
List of activities are to be confirmed after the reconnaissance. Likely stands are :
  • Army PT
  • Team and problem solving tasks
  • Climbing wall, Archery/ weapons
  • TBC
  • Conflict resolution and Army post 16 options Q&A
